On my side, I wanted to share a bit of “behind the scenes” about where RAR Islands is heading and why it’s taking so long for the new update I’m working on.

After releasing the game, I couldn’t resist adding a few extra mysteries for those of you who like to go beyond, once completing the game: things like the Silent Trader, the Shaper Ruins, ….

How are you doing?

On my side, I’ve been squeezing the last few days before I start my new job on Monday. Not only polishing RAR Islands with more fixes and improvements, but also trying to wrap up a few personal things (some random Udemy courses I had pending, some songs polishing, and other bits!).

I’m really happy with how RAR Islands is working right now. It feels stable, players seem to be enjoying it, and overall everything is going smoothly.

This new update is going to be a small one for various reasons, one of them being the fact that I need to slow down a bit on the development since I’m going to be back at a full-time job again soon; the other being the fact that I’m spending time defining the post-game content that I will be adding to RAR Islands soon!

The post-game content is going to be a lot of work and I will need time and energy to tackle it, but I’m happy how it’s going to be, and I have to give credit to @MrDaGrover for having brought so many ideas to the table. We are having some discussions with him about it and I’m 100% sure the polished final definition is going to be great! (More on this on future posts!)

🚀 New Content & Features

• 🏗️ New Building: Well added to Villages! Don’t forget to toss a coin for good luck!
• 🛠️ New Skill: You can now demolish buildings (requires the new Demolition skill).
• 🔊 New Settings
  • Sound & Music volume sliders.
  • Option to disable full screen mode.
• 🐾 You can mark food as favorite to make it appear first when feeding animals.
• 📌 Pin Island – new quality-of-life feature to keep track of a chosen island.

✨ Improvements

• 🎬 Fancy new animation for the Main Menu!
• 🎯 Luck now influences Void Rift Treasure Chests to help obtain specific items once all related Shaper Fragments are collected.
• 🏚️ Removed Construction Site mechanic: Villages are now built instantly.
• 🛡️ Cloaks and Boots now lose durability inside Dungeons and break if you Flee or Exit.
• 🏃 If your protective effect in a Dungeon expires and you carry a Smoke Bomb, you can now safely Flee without losing Gold.
• 🏰 Improvements to a certain Dungeon to prevent it from collapsing after a specific event.
• 📍 If a building is being tracked, it now shows an exclamation mark in the Village list.
• 🔧 Slightly improved Explorer icon on the map.
• 🎮 Dungeon action buttons (Pick-up, Attack, etc.) are now centered.
• ♿ Improved accessibility on Equipment screen buttons.
• 📚 You can now sell Food Crafting Recipes at the Bar, and any Crafting Recipe at the Library.
• 🔁 You can view known crafting recipes directly from within other crafting recipes.
• 📈 Crafting Recipe Level is now shown in the Tool suggestion bottom sheet.
• 🧥👢 Cloaks & Boots durability now behaves consistently across Dungeons.
• 🎯 Pin Island & other quality-of-life tweaks.
• 🌟 More tiny improvements here and there!

🐞 Fixes

• 🎨 Fixed a color glitch in settings.
• 💎 Fixed an issue when tracking gemstones with a certain trader.
• 🏃 Resolved a glitch with the Flee/Exit button in a specific Dungeon.
• 🧪 Fixed an Alchemist glitch that allowed opening the shop when empty.
• ⚒️ Fixed issues with multi-crafting, records, and badges.
• 🏠 Resolved Villages not being built (because they are now built instantly 😜).
• 🌀 Fixed first Echo Chamber translation confirmation glitch.
• 📱 Attempted to fix a rare issue where returning from background caused a black screen.
• 🧹 Various minor fixes and polishing.
