Your First Steps

Introduction#

Your journey begins right after you’ve completed your training at the Explorer’s Guild.

Afterwards, you’re granted your Explorer’s License and your Ship.

You’ll sail to your first Island, and there, you’ll meet the Explorer’s Guild Mentor.

The Mentor will be your guide through the basics of survival on the Islands.

Note: This walkthrough covers the first steps of the Mentor Tutorial, from gathering your first resources to equipping Food, for the road ahead.

Meeting the Mentor#

When you first arrive on your starting island, you’ll find the Explorer’s Guild Mentor.

Tap on the [Talk] button to listen to what they have to say!

Tutorial 1: Gather Wood#

Quest: Stock Up: Wood

The Mentor asks you to gather your first resources:

• 2 x Pine Wood
• 1 x Stick

What to do:#

1. Tap [Explore] to start exploring (automatically) the island.
2. Keep exploring until you discover a Pine Tree.
3. Find the Pine Tree from the Island content section.
4. Tap [Chop] to gather Wood and Sticks.
   (Note: you may obtain other materials from it)
5. Repeat until you have at least 2 x Pine Wood and 1 x Stick.
6. Return to the Explorer’s Guild Mentor and [Talk] to them to complete your first quest!

Tips:

• Each [Chop] action costs one turn and consume energy.
• If your energy reaches 0, don’t worry! Tap on the [Rest] button to get a quick nap and restore your Energy!
• You can access your inventory to check what items you’ve gathered so far (access from the bottom navigation bar, tapping on the backpack icon!).
• You can check your current quest progress in the Quests screen (access from the bottom navigation bar, tapping on the globe icon!).
• You can wait until completely exploring the Island if you wish so, and even sail to other islands and then come back, but my advice is to try to complete the first few quests from the Mentor on your first Island if possible so that you get used to the game mechanics.

Tutorial 2: Craft Knife#

Quest: First Tool: Knife

Now it’s time to Craft your first Tool:

• Craft a Knife (1 x Handle + 2 x Wood Planks)

What to do:#

1. Open the Crafting Screen (middle button on the bottom navigation bar).
2. First, [Craft] the Handle: you need 1 x Stick for this.
3. Next, [Craft] 2 x Wood Planks (You need 2 x Pine Wood for this).
4. Once you have the Handle and the Wood Planks, [Craft] the Knife.
5. Return to the Explorer’s Guild Mentor and [Talk] to them to complete the quest!

Tip:

• Tools (like the Knife) have limited durability, and using them will decrease their durability until they break.
• You’ll definitely need to craft plenty of Tools during the game, but you can invest Gold on their Crafting Recipes so that they have greater durability.
• When Gathering from a resource requires a Tool you don’t have equipped, you will be prompted to [Equip] one (if you have one on the Inventory), or to [Craft] one.

Tutorial 3: Gather Vine#

Quest: Gather: Vine

Your Knife is now ready!

Let’s put it to use:

• Required: 2 x Vine

What to do:#

1. [Explore] the island until you find Wild Vine (if you haven’t already!).
2. Find the Wild Vine from the Island content section.
3. Tap [Cut] as many times as needed to gather Vine (this uses your Knife).
4. Collect at least 2 x Vine.
5. Return to the Explorer’s Guild Mentor to complete the quest!

Tutorial 4: Craft Bow#

Quest: Hunting Bow

Time to craft a Tool to [Hunt] Animals: Hunting Bow!

• Required: Hunting Bow (1 x String (crafted with 2 x Vine) + 1 x Wood Plank)

What to do:#

1. In the Crafting Screen, first [Craft] 1 x String using 2 x Vine.
2. Then, [Craft] a Wood Plank.
3. Finally, craft the Hunting Bow.
4. Return to the Explorer’s Guild Mentor to complete the quest!

Tutorial 5: Hunt#

Quest: Fieldwork: Hunting

Now you have a Hunting Bow: let’s hunt for Food!

• Required: 5 x Raw Meat (all of the same kind).

What to do:#

1. [Explore] the island to find Animals (if you haven’t already!).
   (You can also sail to other islands to find more animals if you want!).
2. Tap [Hunt] to hunt animals (this uses your Hunting Bow).
3. You need 5 x Raw Meat of the same size/kind (e.g. 5 x Raw Meat XS).
4. Return to the Explorer’s Guild Mentor to complete the quest!

Tutorial 6: Build Campfire#

Quest: Next: Campfire

• Required: Craft and place a Campfire (Mentor gives you 2x Stone)

What to do:#

1. The Explorer’s Guild Mentor will give you 2 x Stone, to help you build a Campfire.
   (You can find Stone in other Island types, like Hills, in case you need more Stone for this)
2. Open the Crafting Screen and [Craft] a Campfire Kit.
3. Go to your Inventory, and tap [Use] on the Campfire Kit to place it on the Island.
4. Return to the Explorer’s Guild Mentor to complete the quest!

Tutorial 7: Cook Meat#

Quest: Cooking: First Meals

• Required: Cook 5 x Cooked Meat

What to do:#

1. Find your placed Campfire on the Island content section.
2. Tap [Sit] to approach it.
3. Select [Cook] to see the list of your raw Food items.
4. Tap on [Cook] to get at least 5 x Cooked Meat.
5. Return to the Explorer’s Guild Mentor to complete the quest!

Tutorial 8: Equip Food#

Quest: Ready: Equip Food

• Required: Equip Food in your Consumable slot.

What to do:#

1. Open your Inventory (second button on the bottom navigation bar).
2. There are two ways of doing this:
   • One is to find the recently Cooked Meat and tap on the […] (ellipsis) button and then tap the [Equip] button.
   • The other is to go to the Equipment Screen and on the Consumable slot, tap on the [E] (Equip) button and select the Cooked Meat on the list.
3. Return to the Explorer’s Guild Mentor to complete the tutorial!

You’ve completed the Explorer’s Guild Mentor tutorial!

At this point, the Explorer’s Guild Mentor will give you the first actual Main Story request: to obtain an Atlas!
